About the Crop Circle Year Book 2019:
Crop Circle Year Book 2019:
Our 2019 crop circle year book will be the twenty-first in a series of unique books documenting the crop circle phenomenon in the UK. It is very hard to think that we have been producing them for that long and even harder to think about the hours of work that have gone into them! But they a form testament to our enduring love and commitment to a subject which has inspired many, challenged some and has changed the lives of many more.
In the last 20 years there have been (and continue to be) many struggles and arguments seeking to capture or own the narrative of the crop circle subject for good or for ill. In the midst of it all these books have quietly and patiently built into a historical library, each an open portal into the fields of its given year. They have become a precious archive, aide memoire, and photo album collection of some of the most amazing crop circles that have ever appeared. As a body of work, they are something of which we are immensely proud.
From the back cover:
THE CROP CIRCLE YEAR BOOK 2019, is the twenty-first in a series of year books by Steve Alexander (photographer) and Karen Alexander (writer) portraying the beautiful and mysterious crop circle phenomenon within the UK. This popular series of full colour, fine-art-reproduction books are privately published in limited numbers and come to you directly from the authors, they have become an invaluable and magical window into the fields of southern England, and are the only annually published books on the subject.
Socrates called geometry the ‘Art of the Ever True’; that which links all of creation from the smallest particle, to the vastness and magnitude of the cosmos. Geometry is the ‘breath of the compassionate’, which gives order and form to all things. It is also a time-honoured art, practiced (as we now understand it) at least since Ancient Egyptian times, where its magical properties were used to incredible effect in their sacred buildings and sanctuaries. Going further back in time, it was also used by our earliest cultures in the building of landscape markers, barrows and stone circles where its link to the heavens and the movement of the sun, moon and stars was integral to their worldview. Knowing this is vital to also understanding the mysterious crop circle phenomenon; it is part of a continuum of a great and noble tradition, mostly forgotten in modern times. The appearance of the crop circles in our midst each summer reconnects us with that golden thread of knowledge. In the crop circles past and present are reconciled and like our ancestors before us, we once again find ourselves pondering the mysterious nature of reality and our place within it.
This edition combines inspirational photographic and artistic imagery from the 2019 crop circle season with thought provoking text to create a unique book full of the atmosphere and ambience of this amazing phenomenon.
