Visiting: Important: The farmer has granted access to the public to visit this circle as long as they stick to the tractor-lines to walk into the circle. Do not walk across the field, or trample the crops. Please also be mindful of the centre of this formation, which is intricately woven – keep it untouched for all visitors that come after you. Please do not remove any crop from the field, nor bury anything in the soil. Leave the circle just as you found it.
The owner of the of the field of the Maccoombe Down crop circle has kindly agreed to allow public access. He appreciates that people should enjoy this very special crop circle. His first for 19 years. A huge thank you to Guy Shepherd, whose help made this possible!!
Parking is available at the side of the road at the junction with the public footpath/byway to the north of the field and the route will be clearly marked so visitors can follow the tractor tracks, helping to minimise any additional crop damage. The owner has specified that access will be granted if Croppies stick to the tracks. There are access points at the corner and at the fourth tram line. Entrance is number 7.
The owner hasn’t requested donations but we should! Please respect his property and the nest ‘gift’ in the middle. The harvest will be early this year so this will only be available for a fortnight or so. – From the Crop Circle Access website.
Please read our downloadable PDF about visiting the crop circles responsibly.
Description: This is a very unusual pattern – 3D like in its rendering. A stylised six-armed-star is shown in orthogonal projection, on a rectangular background. It is a truly fascinating an perplexing design.
Flight: We were able to fly this circle a couple of days after its appearance and it was still in excellent condition. You can enjoy Steve’s great photography below, with additional interior images by
We are still fund-raising to fly this season, if you’d like to make a donation to our flight fund, you can do that here.
Interior: This crop circle was particularly beautiful on the ground – the crop appeared combed into place and the whole formation contained many exquisite knotted centres of crop. Check out interior shots from our friend by Tomasz Kaczmarek.
Location History: Tidcombe and its surrounding areas have seen many circles over the years. There is a small earthwork at the corner of the field. Which is marked on the Ordinance Survey Map. Tidcombe longbarrow is just on the opposite side of the road. Maccombe Down, adjacent to the crop circle field, also contains a ditch and bank. So this area is rich in ancient areas of human worship and settlement. You can read more about this area in a fascinating article here.

It’s full of useful information and etiquette for visiting the countryside and the crop circles. Please remember that you should not enter any field without the express permission of the farmer.

Please Help to keep us Flying in 2026: We hope to take to the skies again in 2026 to record the circles that appear this summer. If you have enjoyed looking at our pictures and information please consider making a small donation to keep us flying. There are so few of us left regularly recording the circles it’s really important that we continue. And while some now use drones to record the circles, it is important that there are still images taken from aircraft where the best quality camera equipment can be used and images that include the broad vista of the landscape can be taken. This kind of photography is expensive and it gets harder with each passing year to raise the funds we need to continue our work, but if everyone who regularly looked at this website made a small donation we would meet the funds we need. You can make a donation here.
