Description: This is a quintuplet design, set within a large containing ring. What makes this crop circle so special is the fact that the majority of it is in a field of wild flowers (including many poppies). As you’ll see from the photos in the gallery below. This circle is very special indeed.

It is rare, but not unheard of for circles to cross field boundaries. In the example shown here from 2008 at Martinsell hill, you can see the circle is cut off by the boundary. Sometimes two circles appear in adjacent fields, each containing a different crop. There a several permutations on this theme. The idea of a boundary, and the piercing of boundaries is one that the crop circles have illustrated for us many times. The Martinsell circle seems to say that the circles straddle a boundary, one visible and one invisible. The Etchilhampton seems to speak of a delicate boundary into a beautiful, flower-strewn realm. What a thought!

Flight: We have decided that due to the fragility of the flowers in this formation we won’t fly over it. Below, you can enjoy drone pictures taken by Simon Young and ground images by Dan Vidler.

We are still fund-raising to fly this season, if you’d like to make a donation to our flight fund, you can do that here.

Visiting: Important: You will need permission from the farmer to enter this field, but we would encourage everyone to please not enter this circle and further damage the delicate flowers.  Please read our downloadable PDF about visiting the crop circles responsibly.

Location History: Etchilhampton Hill has been home to many dozens of crop circles, over the years. It also has a commanding view over the Pewsey Vale.

Please Help to keep us Flying in 2026: We hope to take to the skies again in 2026 to record the circles that appear this summer. If you have enjoyed looking at our pictures and information please consider making a small donation to keep us flying. There are so few of us left regularly recording the circles it’s really important that we continue. And while some now use drones to record the circles, it is important that there are still images taken from aircraft where the best quality camera equipment can be used and images that include the broad vista of the landscape can be taken. This kind of photography is expensive and it gets harder with each passing year to raise the funds we need to continue our work, but if everyone who regularly looked at this website made a small donation we would meet the funds we need. You can make a donation here.
