2003 Crop Circles

Crop Circles photographed in 2003

Welcome to the 2003 Image Gallery

2003 was the last year we were to use photographic film to record the crop circles. The digital age was truly advancing bringing new opportunities for photography. The year was punctuated by many amazing formations including the fantastic pentagon and pentagrams at Avebury. The 300ft formation, in green wheat was a masterclass in pentagonal geometry and still one of our all time favourite formations. We remember spending a very hot afternoon side the formation taking pictures  and film, the quality of space created by this formation was truly transcendent! Other highlights from the year included the thirteen-fold mandala at Hush, the Birds at Adam’s Grave in Alton Barnes, the magnificent squared rope in South Field, Alton Priors and the gigantic Molecule at North Down in Wiltshire. One further crop circle of note appeared also at North Down, but earlier in the summer. A huge shield formation with an intricately patterned  floor lay was placed in line with the three roundbarrows in the landscape (the North Down barrows). It later came to light that this circle had occupied the place where a long disappeared fourth barrow had originally laid. For this new website we have gone back through our archive, and painstakingly scanned and cleaned up many of our images to share with you for the first time – we hope you enjoy them!
